Bluetooth speakers are one of the most modern means of entertainment. Whenever you go on a journey or adventure, a portable Bluetooth speaker can be your best companion.

Whether you are dancing while cleaning your house or going for your workouts or a little walk on the beach – you must have cravings for music, right? In that case, Aiwa Exos – 9 is the finest option that is available in the market.
Aiwa Exos – 9 pumps out 200W’s of powerful and continuous stereo sound. Among all the Bluetooth speaker of Aiwa company, its sound is the loudest of all. Let’s jump into the review to learn more about it.

Actually Aiwa Exos – 9 is a lot more of a stationary desktop speaker, than an outdoor speaker. It is wireless & portable and it can deliver pleasant and balanced sound.
Unfortunately, the device is not as rugged as its some other competitors, and also it’s not waterproof. So, the number of situations in which you can use it in the outdoors is very limited.
But if you need a very loud & great-sounding Bluetooth speaker, that will be used maximum indoors, then Aiwa Exos – 9 is a fantastic choice.
Aiwa Exos – 9 is really a beast of a wireless speaker. Its weight is about 13 lbs, which is less than what we have guessed by its 7.5 × 11.7 × 19.4 inches dimension.
The device certainty grabbed the attention of people with its generic and beautiful design. The whole speaker is fully black, with small silver accents, like an aluminum volume knob.
Its two mid-woofers, woofer, and two tweeters are hidden behind a black grille. There’s an LCD panel on the front of the speaker. The panel displays the EQ you are using, as well as information like the device, is charging or not, battery life of the device, etc.
On top of the device, you will find touch controls for play/ pause, directional buttons that are used to select and tune the EQ on the speaker itself, and a button for connecting two Exos – 9 speakers together.
It’s a bit disappointing that there is no smartphone application to control the speaker. That’s why the device feels a bit backdated, in an age where our wireless headphones receive regular firmware updates over Bluetooth.
On the back, you will find the power button, a 3.5mm analog – in jack, a micro – USB port for firmware updates, and a USB – A port for charging your device.
You will also find a 2600 mAh 22V li-ion battery pack at the back, which is rated to last for 9 hours. But there is an optional battery pack, that doubles the number.
Probably sound quality is the best thing of this gadget. The bass here is really punchy and powerful but controlled. The mids are very dynamic and detailed & the highs are also clear.
If you want to emphasize the midrange & voice or if you want bassier sound, you can play with EQ presets and those adjustable EQ bands (+/- 12 dB) and can find your required song.
Exos – 9 is not only the loudest Bluetooth speaker of Aiwa company, rather it is one of the loudest Bluetooth speakers that is available in the market, which makes it great for parties.
The bass is remains controlled and it doesn’t overpower the midrange at a full volume. The distortion also looks like nonexistent.
If you are in need of louder sound or slightly better stereo separation, you can easily connect two Exos – 9 speakers together by pressing the link button on both speakers. They should remain less than 20 feet away from each other.
There are two modes available – dual stereo and stereo separation. In dual stereo mode, four louder sounds both speakers will play the same audio. And in stereo separated mode, for better stereo separation one speaker acts as the right and the other as left audio channel.
Undoubtedly Exos – 9 is the best sounding Bluetooth speaker under $300. I don’t think you will find a more balanced and louder speaker in that price.
Portability & Ruggedness
One of the ‘not so great’ things about the speaker is that it’s a bit heavier, which affects its portability. Surely it’s not small enough to carry everywhere in your backpack.
So, you have to find a place for it and have to leave it there. So, it is not a super portable device.
Is the product rugged? The answer is yes, but not so much. A textured plastic material is used to build the speaker’s external parts such as the top, sides, and back.
With the given material, you will have to be very careful while handling the speaker. Dropping or falling down the gadget is certainly not a good idea.
Exos – 9 has an IPX4 splash and dustproof rating because Aiwa offers an optional carrying case. But the device is neither waterproof nor water-resistant. So, be very careful while using it near the swimming pool or at the beach.
The device has a Bluetooth connectivity of BT v4.2. BT v4.2 ensures instant pairing of devices and maintains a strong connection 80 feet.
The Exos – 9 can remember your last device and allows you to reconnect without any disturbance. There is a 3.5 mm jack for direct connection.
I feel very disappointed whenever I see Bluetooth speakers featuring Bluetooth version 4.1 or 4.2 rather than the updated BT v5.0. Though BT v4.2 is working frequently, but you will get far better connectivity and more range in BT v5.0.
We often think that the more battery life will be, the better the speaker is. Actually, that’s not the case. Basically, it depends on our needs.
However, we should aim for a minimum of 5-6 hours. Usually, that is enough for a medium or big gathering, right? Aiwa Exos – 9 will last up to 9 – 10 hours at (40-50)% volume, which you will admit that, is more than enough.
Battery life mainly depends on which volume you are using the speaker. If you keep at around 40 or 50 percent, you will always get 9 – 10 hours of continuous playtime. But if you want 100% volume, then you may not get more than 5-6 hours of playtime.
Excellent sound quality and outstanding battery life can’t do so much if there isn’t any strong Bluetooth connection and numerous connecting options.
What is really impressive about this speaker is you can connect it to numerous Bluetooth enabled devices such as Windows devices, Android devices, iPhone, iPad, PC, Tablets, etc. Besides, you will get the connection within seconds, as the unit is too much user friendly.
You may have an idea that nowadays numerous party speakers that are available on the market, don’t provide a reliable Bluetooth connection. In fact, there are lots of other models, which have a BT v4.2 connectivity, but users complain that the sound cuts out very often.
Luckily that’s not the case with Aiwa Exos – 9. Though it has BT v4.2 connectivity, but the connection is so strong that you don’t have to worry about cutting down the sound and ruining your party.
You can use a 3.5mm audio jack in order to make a direct connection if you prefer the old fashioned way of connecting devices.
The device usually comes with a 1 – year warranty. But the good news is if you make a request, Aiwa will extend it to 2 years. To do that, you have to register your speaker with the manufacturer. Then they will extend your warranty.
